Designed to cooperate: a Kant-inspired ethic of machine-to-machine cooperation

This position paper highlights an ethic of machine-to-machine cooperation and machine pro-sociality, argues that machines capable autonomous sensing, decision-making action, such as automated vehicles urban robots, owned used by different self-interested parties, having their own agendas (or interests owners) should be designed built to cooperative in behaviours, especially if they share public spaces. That is, design, the first cooperate, then only consider alternatives there are problems. It is argued being not important for improved functioning, especially, when use shared resources (e.g., parking spaces, roads, curbside space walkways), but also a favourable requirement analogous how humans cooperating with other can advantageous often viewed favourably. The usefulness illustrated via examples including crowdsourcing, traffic routing well futuristic scenarios involving robots delivery shopping. just privacy-by-design security-by-design considerations, order yield systems fulfil ethical requirements, cooperative-by-design imperative separately co-inhabit same spaces common resources.
